SUMMARY
Execute and manage the design, construction and implementation of e-Learning applications and
courseware that support business objectives. Work in close partnership with both internal and
external teams and partners to design, collaborate, develop and deploy SHRM e-Learning
courses/ curriculum to e-Learning users. Help set the strategic direction for e-Learning and be
responsible for revenue targets and goals.
Manage e-Learning team, vendor and partner relationships. As appropriate, seek and implement
strategic partner alliances for e-Learning.
Oversee the development of web-based course materials and oversee the conversion of existing
content into a web format.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES plus other duties and responsibilities as
assigned.
Develop, manage and execute on the Strategic, Operational and Technological direction of the
SHRM e-Learning initiative. Align SHRM e-Learning with operational, organizational and
revenue goals.
Actively manage existing high value external content partnerships, and assess future content
needs that may be addressed through external partnerships, as overall strategy dictates.
Manage SHRM e-Learning’s Learning Management System (LMS) to be able to respond, adapt
and serve the needs of the HR community. Work with the user community to identify, define
and investigate training and process or application changes that will support the organizational
goals through the effective use of internet technologies. Develop, implement or modify
application or process changes based on the needs of the user community, and address as the
needs of SHRM’s overall technology strategy dictate.
Develop Marketing Strategy and work with Program Marketing Manager to execute this
strategy. Work collaboratively with faculty members, subject matter experts, other SHRM staff
members and vendors to identify and/or develop opportunities for new e-Learning directions.
Work collaboratively with SHRM Market Research team to conduct ad hoc and regularly
scheduled market research for e-Learning.
Work with HRCI to align their certification and recertification requirements with the services
SHRM e-Learning supplies to users. Ensure HRCI guidelines are followed and met; make
adjustments as necessary. Collaborate with SHRM Marketing team while involving HRCI in
marketing strategies as warranted when targeting certified SHRM members.
Manage and supervise SHRM e-Learning team.
Address SHRM’s internal HR needs as pertain to existing SHRM e-Learning training
(compliance, etc.)
Oversee all financials/ budget for the SHRM e-Learning initiative. Create and maintain accurate
metrics for SHRM e-Learning. Conduct periodic trend and historical analyses.
Provide periodic updates to management and senior management as requested regarding
statistics on usage, revenue and program development initiatives and enhancements.

Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time; budgetary and strategic mindset focused.
Solid interpersonal skills; ability to work well with people of all levels of expertise both within
and outside the organization.
Creative, innovative and flexible in using instructional design methodology as it applies to
delivering web-based training.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a solid understanding of:
• web (application, reporting, database, web design and email) technologies
• experience with Learning Management Systems
• Instructional Design methodology
• HR content and training needs
The candidate must also have a firm grounding in adult learning theory and experience applying
this theoretical knowledge to develop instructional programs with real life application that are
delivered through technology and web-based learning.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to prioritize amongst multiple
projects, demands and deadlines.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelors Degree or equivalent required , basic knowledge of HTML protocol and HTML
coding, previous experience managing and leading a team, three to five years of demonstrated experience in course development, online training, instructor-led training and/or adult learning
theory.
Knowledge of and experience in e-learning tools and internet technology, experience with sound editing software preferred, strong proficiency in Microsoft Office PowerPoint and Excel, experience using Articulate Presenter a plus, Human Resource experience preferred.
