POSITION SUMMARY
This position develops partnerships among education, health, family, business and government interests and entities to create healthy school communities resulting in improved learning and teaching for all students. Housed within the Constituent Services work group, this position leads association work resulting in new directions in education reform policy on state, provincial, and local levels that reflect evidence and research and support health and learning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Initiates and directs efforts that support integration of health and learning indicators that support the whole child.
•Leads and supports integrated affiliate, regional and ASCD activities, managing the partnerships and programs to ensure both an appropriate two-way flow of benefits and effective communications.
•Builds affiliate and constituent capacity for advancing effective education policy and practice consistent with ASCD’s influence and advocacy agendas.
•Conceptualizes and executes plans and budget for business, organizational and constituent group development, in alignment with ASCD’s Strategic and Business Unit Plans.
•Establishes collaborative working relationships between external groups and the Association (e.g., corporations, foundations, federal and state agencies, educational improvement groups, school districts, and others) in concert with organizational plans and initiatives.
•Provides localized consultative services, staff development workshops, and on-site product support.
•Shapes organizational plans and decision-making through leading and participating in ASCD organizational groups and teams.
•Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge:
•Persons performing these duties usually hold an advanced degree and knowledge of health and education issues and the nexus of the two areas.
•Certified Health Education Specialist preferred.

Skills and Abilities/Critical Success Factors:
•The ability to be trained in thorough and comprehensive knowledge of ASCD, its programs and services, mission, goals, and strategic objectives is essential to job success.
•Excellent presentation, group facilitation, and training skills are essential.
•Superior oral and written communication skills are required along with highly developed networking and interpersonal skills.
•Innovative, entrepreneurial skills and adaptability are necessary.
•Managerial skills including problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution are also required.
•Skilled in use of office productivity software, communications packages, and Internet use.

Experience:
•Ten years successful experience in the following areas: health and education, grass roots advocacy and influence, partnership/collaboration leadership, community engagement/improvement, and/or business development.
•Individual should have professional standing in the education and health communities that will garner support for ASCD’s issues, strategic objectives, products and services.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
•Requires regular and collaborative contact with ASCD staff; governance groups; affiliates; network facilitators; district, state/provincial, or regional decision makers; professional organizations; corporate and foundation community; and general public.
•Work is conducted in fast-paced, flexible team environment.
•Position requires travel away from office up to 40% of time, weekend work, and tight deadlines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
•Ability to operate computer and other office equipment.
•Ability to travel to external meetings and/or conferences.
